World Boss Timer — Next Spawn & Schedule
Syncing with your local clock…
How the Diablo 4 World Boss Rotation Works
World bosses are massive shared-field events in Diablo 4 — gigantic bosses that spawn in fixed arenas in the open world, announce themselves with a map marker, and are fought by everyone in the region at once. Up to 12 players share one world boss instance. Three things define the schedule:
- One spawn every 3.5 hours. The game announces each spawn roughly 30 minutes in advance with a toast notification and a horn icon on the map — that in-game warning is the most reliable signal you'll ever get.
- A fixed boss order. Community trackers have documented that the three world bosses appear in a repeating sequence. With one spawn every 3.5 hours, a full loop of 6 spawns takes 21 hours and features each boss twice — that's the cycle the timer above projects.
- Three arena locations. The spawn region rotates between three fixed arenas (see the table below). The boss order looks fixed; the arena is picked per spawn and revealed with the 30-minute warning.
Because 24 hours doesn't divide evenly into 3.5-hour slots, spawn times drift about half an hour later each day — there is no single "daily world boss time". That's exactly why a countdown is more useful than a static table: the timer above keeps the drift for you, shown in your local timezone.
The Three World Bosses
Ashava the Pestilent
Poison demon with twin arm-blades. Her sweeping arm-blade cleaves and the arena-wide spin are the classic party wipes — the spin is telegraphed, so sprint to the arena edge when she rears up.
Avarice, the Gold Cursed
Gold-hoarding colossus — the "Gold Curse" boss. Heavy charge attacks and slam shockwaves, spawns Treasure Goblins mid-fight, and pays out the biggest Gold pile of the three when she falls.
Wandering Death, Death Given Bone
Colossal undead bone horror. Skull volleys and lines of erupting bone spikes punish anyone standing still — keep moving and the fight is mostly about positioning, not damage races.
World Boss Spawn Locations
| Arena | Region | Who spawns there |
|---|---|---|
| The Crucible | Fractured Peaks | Any of the three bosses |
| Caen Adar | Scosglen | Any of the three bosses |
| Sarat's Lament | Hawezar | Any of the three bosses |
When the 30-minute warning fires, check your map — the arena gets a horn/arena marker and the announcement names the region. Fast travel to the nearest waypoint and ride in on your mount; you'll usually have company following the same marker.
How This Timer Calculates the Schedule
No magic, no server: the countdown runs entirely in your browser from a simple model.
- A reference spawn is fixed at a known launch-week slot (2023-06-06 02:00 UTC).
- Every 3.5 hours from that anchor is a spawn slot.
- Slots 1–6 cycle Ashava → Avarice → Wandering Death → Ashava → Avarice → Wandering Death, then repeat — each boss twice per 21-hour loop.
- Your browser computes which slot is "now", converts every slot to your local timezone, and counts down to the next one.
What the model can't know: server downtime, mid-season hotfixes that reset the phase, or a patch changing the rotation. When any of those happen, the in-game 30-minute warning (and community trackers that poll live game data) is the source of truth — treat this page as a planning tool, not gospel.
World Boss FAQs
When is the next Diablo 4 world boss spawn?
A world boss spawns every 3.5 hours around the clock — the countdown at the top of this page shows the next estimated slot in your local time. In game, watch for the announcement roughly 30 minutes before the spawn.
Which world boss is up right now?
The "Current window" card in the timer shows the boss from the most recent slot, and "Next up" shows who follows. The order is community-tracked, so label it an estimate — the map marker confirms who's actually coming.
Why do world boss times change every day?
A 3.5-hour cadence doesn't fit evenly into 24 hours (24 ÷ 3.5 ≈ 6.86), so each day's spawns land about 30 minutes later on the clock. Over roughly a week the schedule sweeps through all times of day.
Can you solo a world boss in Diablo 4?
Yes — with an overleveled character and a strong build it's doable, and it gets easier on seasonal characters with mature gear. They're tuned for groups though (up to 12 players share an arena), so for a fresh character, wait for the crowd: anyone can join, no party required.
What does a world boss drop?
Gear up to Legendary (with a chance at Uniques), Scattered Prisms, Gold, Gem Fragments, and crafting materials. See our world boss loot & team tips page for the breakdown and fight advice.
