About Five Nights at Freddy's

Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) is the iconic survival horror franchise created by Scott Cawthon that puts you in the role of a night shift security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza — a family restaurant where the animatronic characters come to life at night and wander the building. With limited power to run your doors, lights, and cameras, every night is a tense battle of resource management and pattern recognition. The series has expanded from the original point-and-click survival game to include over ten titles spanning prequels, sequels, spin-offs, and the massive open-world Security Breach. Each game introduces new mechanics, new animatronics, and new ways to die.

FNAF is notorious for its difficulty spikes — especially Night 5 in the original game, where all four main animatronics (Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy) are fully active and your power drains faster than ever. Knowing exactly when to close doors, when to check cameras, and how each animatronic's AI behaves is the difference between survival and a jumpscare. Our FNAF guides break down every animatronic's movement patterns, optimal power management strategies, and night-by-night survival tactics so you can make it to 6 AM without running out of power. Whether you're stuck onNight 4, trying to survive FNAF 2's relentless puppet mechanic, or facing Freddy Fazbear himself, we have the strategies you need.

FNAF FAQs

How to beat FNAF 1 Night 5?

Night 5 is the hardest night in FNAF 1 — all four animatronics are hyper-aggressive. The key strategy is extreme power conservation: only close the left door when you hear Bonnie at the door, and only close the right door when Chica is at the door. Use the cameras sparingly — check the Show Stage (CAM 1A) and Dining Area (CAM 1B) quickly at the start to establish positions, then rely on audio cues. For Freddy, check the East Hall (CAM 4A) periodically — if he's there, keep an eye on him because he drains power just by being watched. If Foxy gets to stage 2 (knocking at the door), close the left door briefly to reset him. See our full Night 5 guide for detailed timing.

How to survive FNAF 1 Night 4?

Night 4 is where the game starts to get truly difficult. Bonnie and Chica become very active from the start. Use the camera flip strategy: check the Show Stage first, then cycle through Pirate Cove (Foxy's stage) and the Dining Area. Keep the left door closed whenever Bonnie is nearby — he's the most aggressive on this night. Conserve power by only flipping up the camera when absolutely necessary. If you hear running (Foxy), close the left door immediately for 2-3 seconds to reset him.

How to beat Freddy in FNAF 1?

Freddy Fazbear is unique — you can't stop him with doors alone. He moves through the East Hall (CAM 4A and 4B) and only attacks when the power runs out (his power drain song). To keep Freddy at bay, check CAM 4A frequently. If Freddy is in the East Hall, watching him on the camera prevents him from moving — but it also drains power faster. The best strategy is to check Freddy's position at the start of each hour, then manage the other animatronics while monitoring his progress. If Freddy reaches CAM 4B (right outside your door), close the right door — he can't enter if the door is closed, but he'll laugh and drain power faster.

How to beat FNAF 1 (general tips)?

General survival tips for FNAF 1: (1) Conserve power — every camera flip and door closure drains power. Only check cameras when you need to. (2) Learn audio cues — Bonnie's footsteps, Chica's kitchen sounds, and Foxy's running are all tells. (3) Use the lights, not the cameras — checking the left/right lights doesn't drain camera power. (4) Foxy resets if you close the left door briefly when he's at stage 2. (5) On later nights, start by checking Pirate Cove immediately to know Foxy's position. See our Night 5 guide for the full breakdown.

How to beat FNAF 2?

FNAF 2 is mechanically very different from the first game — you wear a Freddy Fazbear head to hide from animatronics and use a flashlight instead of doors. The biggest threats are the Marionette/Puppet (you must keep its music box wound by winding it in the Prize Corner camera) and Foxy (who runs down the hall and must be flashed with the light repeatedly). On harder nights like Night 6, the Toy animatronics (Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica, Toy Freddy) rush your office constantly — keep the flashlight on the hall and wind the music box every few seconds. Withered Foxy in Parts/Service must be watched on camera to prevent his attack.
