Chapter 3: Deep Sleep is where Poppy Playtime goes from "creepy" to "terrifying." You enter Playcare, an underground orphanage where the Bigger Bodies Initiative began. The new threat is CatNap, a gas-wielding nightmare that stalks you through the darkness.
This is also the longest chapter in the game. New mechanics include gas mask navigation, stealth sections, and complex multi-room puzzles.
Walkthrough
Enter Playcare
After the train, you enter Playcare through the main entrance. It looks like a children's daycare center — colorful walls, toys, and posters. But something's off. The air is thick, and posters of CatNap watch you from every wall. Move through the orientation room to reach the main hub.
The Schoolhouse — First Major Area
The schoolhouse is the first big puzzle area. You need to find three missing keys to unlock the exit:
- Key 1 — Music Room: Solve the instrument puzzle by matching sounds
- Key 2 — Art Room: Color-matching puzzle with paint stations
- Key 3 — Principal's Office: Sliding puzzle with drawers
CatNap stalks you during the entire schoolhouse sequence. You can't fight it — only hide.
CatNap's Gas Mechanics
CatNap releases a purple hallucinogenic gas that slowly fills rooms. If you breathe it, you hallucinate and become vulnerable. Key points:
- Gas masks are scattered throughout Playcare — grab them immediately
- Gas masks have limited durability — they crack over time
- When your mask cracks, find a ventilation area to clear the gas
- CatNap is invisible in the gas — you won't see it coming
Home Sweet Home — Mini-Game Area
After the schoolhouse, you enter the "Home Sweet Home" section — a fake house where the toys were trained. It's a gauntlet of mini-puzzles:
- Kitchen — Sequence puzzle with appliances
- Living Room — TV remote puzzle (match channels to shows)
- Bedroom — Latch puzzle with multiple locking mechanisms
The CatNap Confrontation
After solving all house puzzles, CatNap corners you in the basement. This is a STEALTH section, not a fight:
- CatNap patrols the basement in figure-eight patterns
- Hide in lockers when it approaches
- Wait until it passes, then move to the next hiding spot
- The exit requires cranking a door open — this takes 10 seconds and is LOUD
- Crank in short bursts: 3 seconds, hide, 3 seconds, hide
